Mojitos are one of the classics of all classic mixed drinks. Here’s what you need to make your own:
2 oz of white rum
1 oz of fresh lime juice
0.5 oz of syrup
5 mint leaves
Club soda or sparkling water
Lime slices
Ice
Instructions:
Gently mix the mint in the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
Add the rum, fresh lime juice, syrup, ice and shake it.
Strain into an ice-filled glass.
Add your desired amount of club soda or sparkling water.
Optionally, add more mint and lime slices.
The margarita is another favorite and is a historically related to a Mexican drink called the “Daisy”. During the U.S. Prohibition era, it started gaining popularity – and now it’s one of the most popular cocktails in the world. Try putting one together using the following ingredients:
1 oz of tequila
1 oz of Cointreau
1 oz fof resh lime juice
Lime slices
0.5 oz of agave syrup/nectar or other syrup of choice
Sea salt
Instructions:
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a (margarita) glass and then dip it onto a plate of salt.
Add tequila, Cointreau and fresh lime juice into the glass. Fill the rest of the glass with crushed ice.
If you like extra sweetness, add your syrup of choice.
The original piña colada was born in Puerto Rico and is now considered one of the most tropical and desirable drinks on the planet. This is what you need to create your own summery version:
1 oz of dark rum
1.5 oz of white rum
2 oz of pineapple juice
2 oz of coconut cream
0.5 cups of frozen diced pineapple
Pineapple slices
Ice
Instructions:
Pour the dark rum, white rum, pineapple juice, coconut cream, frozen diced pineapple and ice into a blender.
Blend the mix until it’s smooth.
Pour the drink into a jug or glasses and garnish with pineapple slices.
