COVID-19 Safety and Awareness

Last updated: November 10, 2020

The well-being of our community is our key priority. By being mindful of each other’s health, Viewings on Viewnary will be more enjoyable and safer than any public observation deck will ever be.

Please refer to this page for updates on Viewnary’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus) response and resources.

We strongly advise you to follow the medical advice and protocols laid out by your national health institute and government.

Host COVID-19 guidelines

As a Host, you can indicate your cleaning practices and any requirements for Guests on your Listing page, including whether Guests need to bring their own protective gear.

Here are clear and simple guidelines to ensure your property is clean and safe before and during a Viewing:

  • Adequately clean common areas. If offered, this includes amenities such as bathrooms;

  • Disinfect surfaces that Guests may come into proximity with during a Viewing like windows and door handles;

  • Where possible, ensure an adequate supply of cleaning materials such as soap or hand sanitizer to offer. Hand sanitizers should contain at least 60% alcohol;

  • Ensure that you and your Guests are wearing face masks and/or any specific protective gear if this is made mandatory by your local and/or national government;

  • Maintain the recommended social distancing measures as stated by your national health institute or government, and urge Guests to keep the recommended distance from you and other Guests;

  • Enhance ventilation by opening windows and doors, wherever possible;

  • Adhere to any additional guidelines provided by your national health institute, government, and/or other relevant authorities.

Cleaning procedure

We understand that the current situation can be overwhelming and confusing – that’s why we defined and outlined a simple three-step cleaning procedure to help you and your Guests stay safe.

1. Clean: remove dust, dirt, and germs from surfaces.

Dust, sweep, and vacuum common areas:

  • Make sure all floors and surfaces are free of dust and dirt. Surfaces include tables and countertops.

Use water and (multi-surface) cleaner to clean hard surfaces:

  • After dust and dirt is removed, use (preferably hot) water and a cleaner to wipe floors and hard surfaces like tables and countertops. Dispose of the water safely by, for example, pouring it into a sink that hasn’t been cleaned yet.

Clean soft surfaces:

  • Clean soft surfaces, like carpets and tablecloths, using appropriate methods.

Wash dishes and cutlery (if offered):

  • If Guests use dishes and cutlery during a Viewing, ensure that they are washed and dried properly – preferably using a dishwasher.

2. Sanitize: disinfect all surfaces that Guests touch.

After cleaning floors and surfaces, spray and/or wipe them with disinfectant:

  • Sanitize all floors and surfaces that Guests may come into contact with. This can be done using a liquid (spray) or wipes, or any other appropriate disinfecting product. Follow the instructions on the product label, especially with regard to letting the disinfectant stand/air-dry for a specified time, in order to kill germs as effectively as possible.

3. Review: check that all used areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.

Check whether the cleaning procedure has been followed properly for all relevant areas and repeat any steps if needed. Finally, always check whether you have enough cleaning resources for the following bookings and restock if required.
